That's pretty impressive. Got me thinking about a beach buggy electric conversion, with wheelie bars.

Do it. Electric conversions are so simple compared to an engine swap. And so easy to work on, one moving part. Nothing for the sand to get in!

Yeah, If I was to do it I'd spin the gearbox 180 degrees, like a formula 'V', and have a mid mounted motor with some batteries either side of the motor and some more batteries up front. Weight distribution would be fairly even that way, although it would be fun to make a 'wheelie' machine I think it'd be better to drive if the mid mount method was used.

I have access to a year round stream on my property that could provide free* electricity via a home built hydropower turbine. I've seen Fisher-Paykel washing machine motors modified for this purpose as well as wind turbines.(hey! If I fit a wind turbine to the car I'll have perpetual motion! Of course I'm joking). Hmmm, I will have to do some research on this, I was very impressed with the way that Datsun launched off the line and feel like I need that kind of acceleration I'm my life.

*free once the set up cost is taken into account but most of the work I can do myself so time will be the most expensive part.
